New Construction | Oakland Park
New construction is popping up everywhere in the Fort Lauderdale area these days. Fort Lauderdale is the heart of a robust, thriving, high-growth region. Once known strictly as a tourism-based economy, Fort Lauderdale now supports a diverse range of industries, from manufacturing and high technology to insurance and real estate. With all of this growth, new construction is on the rise. Oakland Park is right in the middle of Ft. Lauderdale and is experiencing much anticipated growth.
Good news for the Oakland Park area, developer D.R. Horton, America’s largest home builder, has plans for 133 townhomes just North of the wildly successful Funky Buddha Brewery in Oakland Park. Horton plans to launch sales at Eastside Village by the end of the year, though prices have not been released.
Minutes from the Oakland Park City Planning and Zoning Board show that these this 133 unit townhome community will consist of 2 story, 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath units with a one mile concrete walking path, a playground, 2 acre lake and pool. Units will start at 1,446 square feet plus garages and terraces.
Right in our backyard, where the old landmark restaurant Gibby’s was once located, will now be home to a gated, waterfront townhome community called The Pointe at Middle River. These 3 story townhouses are starting at $398,000. This 40 unit community will feature gas utilities, a public boat slip, a waterfront pool and a walking path, something East Ft. Lauderdale/Oakland Park is definitely in shortage of.
