Energy Improvements for Summer
Summer is on the well on its way which means your going to feel hotter – some days a lot hotter than others. The average home spends hundreds of dollars a year on energy costs. But you can lower your energy bills and help save the environment at the same time.
We all want to save money and the following are just a couple of energy saving tips that are at no cost to you:
- Use the dishwater: the dishwasher uses less water than hand washing.
- Keep the refrigerator full: Keeping the fridge full of food keeps it from warming up too fast when the door is open.
- You can also help keep your home cool by placing warm appliances (lamps, televisions, and cooking appliances) away from internal thermostats.
- Cook quickly: Use your stove top, microwave or outdoor grill to keep the temperatures down. using the oven not only heats the kitchen but the entire home.
- Clean your air vents
While these are great, cost free tips, so much more can be done to improve energy savings and not break the bank:
- Find and repair air leaks
- Upgrade your thermostat
- Repair or replace windows/doors
- Change air filters
- Add ceiling fans
- Update light fixtures
