An extremely active community, Poinsettia Heights is centrally located near the best parts of Fort Lauderdale. From Poinsettia Heights, you can walk or bike to famous Las Olas Boulevard, the nightlife in the neighboring City of Wilton Manors or bask in the sun at the main Fort Lauderdale beach strip (as the locals call it), which is just over 1 mile away. If shopping is high on the priority list for you, the Galleria Mall is only about 1/2 mile away. This 1,400,000 square foot, which is anchored by Macy’s, Neiman Marcus and Dillard’s department stores, contains over 100 stores featuring Abercrombie & Fitch, Pottery Barn, Williams Sonoma, Louis Vuitton, Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa and many other fine retail shops. Even more restaurants, shops and night life are all within a few minutes from the Poinsettia Heights Fort Lauderdale neighborhood in both Wilton Manors and along Federal Highway.
If adventure or a quiet natural setting is more to your liking, you (and your pooch) are in luck! Just on the north shore of the Middle River – adjacent to Poinsettia Heights – is the Colahatchee Boat Ramp, where you can put in a small boat and cruise the river, the intracoastal waterway and head out to the ocean. Directly across the street is Colahatchee Park, a serene, tranquil setting with a raised boardwalk that takes you over the tropical mangrove swamp and into the park, wherein lies a lovely picnic area and dog park.
