Fort Lauderdale Real Estate | Trader Joe’s Opening
Trader Joe’s is dropping anchor in Fort Lauderdale. A stretch of North Federal Highway in Fort Lauderdale now filled with construction crews and chain-linked fences will soon make way for South Florida’s latest Trader Joe’s.
The California-based chain of grocery stores says it plans to open at 1590 N. Federal Highway by 8 a.m., Oct. 15. The store will become Trader Joe’s eighth in South Florida and the 17th in Florida. Trader Joe’s has been rapidly expanding in Florida with the Davie store at The Tower Shops at 2296 South university to open on September 25.
It will cover about 10,100-square-foot and be one of the main anchors of a new shopping center under development called 1600 Commons. A two-story Nordstrom Rack, Office Depot, Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza and other retailers are also expected to open at the center.
The development, led by Boca Raton-based Halvorsen Development Corp., will occupy the grounds of what used to be a parking lot and Toys R’ Us store. Next to it is an Office Depot shop that’s expected to close and be torn down once its new home next door is ready for occupancy. Red banners announcing the pending closure are posted at the current Office Depot store, advertising closing sales of up to 30 percent off.
Trader Joe’s will be a wonderful addition to the Fort Lauderdale Area. To learn more about Trader Joes click here: Trader Joe’s
